  1. Power of Attorney on behalf of the responsible pharmaceutical chemist.
  2. Qualitative/quantitative composition of the product.
    • The list of ingredients must be submitted in decreasing order according to the formulation of the food. It must solely quantify nourishing additives, such as: flavourings, colorants, emulsifiers, preservatives, sweeteners and any other that the product contains according to the national or international regulations. The rest of ingredients must be described in qualitative form.
    • Two original of the qualitative/quantitative formula must be submitted, one for the file and other one to be filed at the laboratory when samples are given.
    • The formula must be signed by the formula’s responsible professional.
    • For those products where the composition of formula is hard to get, it will be permitted to transcribe them from the ingredients’ label; the transcription must be signed by the person who carried it out.
  3. Labels
    • Two original labels must be submitted in order to verify the fulfilment of the requirements established in the Mandatory Salvadoran Regulation: General Rule for labelling of Pre-packed Foods R-UAC 67.01.02
  4. Certificate of Free Sale granted by the health authorities from the exporting country.
  5. Warehouse Operation License
    • A copy of the authorization for the warehouse functioning where the products will be stored must be submitted, issued by the nearest Health Unit; in case there is no available a warehouse, in a written document must indicate what the marketing mechanism will be.
  6. Product’s Identification and Characterization:
    • Name of the country where the product is manufactured.
    • Name of the product: specify kind of product: Drinks, cookies, candies, milk, cheese, etc.
    • Product’s trademark: trademark as per registration in the Registry of Commerce.
    • Package’s manufacturing material: describe the package’s material which is in contact with the product.
    • Net weight by presentation: the net content must be declared in metric system units (International Unit), as follows:

    ● In volume, for liquid foods (litres, millilitres).
    ● In mass, for solid foods (kilograms, grams).
    ● In mass or volume, for semisolid or viscous foods.

    In addition to the net content declaration, in the liquid packed foods must be indicated the food’s drained out mass in metric system units.

  7. Sample of Products.
    • Four samples of each product must be submitted, as follows:

    ● Solid food samples of 200 grams each.
    ● Liquid food samples of 200 millilitres each.
    ● Liquor samples, two bottles of 750 millilitres

This kind of registration process takes about 120 days provided that the samples and documents are complete.
